With La Fonte, released on June 13, 2025 via Bandcamp, L’Horreur d’Exister delivers the fourth production of a project that is steadily establishing itself as a singular voice in the underground scene. True to its central themes – existentialism, grief, depression, and the human condition – this solo project, occasionally enriched with collaborations, continues to explore the depths of dark emotions with a deeply personal approach. Each EP addresses a particular angle of this reflection, allowing the whole to take shape as a mosaic of intimacy and human despair.
Musically, La Fonte immediately enchants with its guitars drenched in reverb, creating a ghostly, enveloping atmosphere. This spectral layer acts like a sonic veil, pulling the listener into a world where time feels suspended.
The EP opens with “Echoes Of A Broken Mind”, a more aggressive track compared to what follows, like an initial storm that sets the tone before gradually sliding toward calm. Each piece contributes to this decrescendo of aggressiveness, leading to the closing track “Lueur d’espoir”. Fittingly titled, it shines with clarity and brightness, standing in contrast to the previous shadows. It offers an almost redemptive breath, an opening toward something greater than pain.
As a whole, La Fonte is a captivating and coherent EP, reflecting both the intensity of inner struggles and the possibility of release. One leaves it struck by its emotional weight while being seduced by its sonic beauty. An authentic, haunting, and essential project, once again proving that the local scene has much to offer.
Looking ahead: the next release from L’Horreur d’Exister is expected to feature several collaborations, though no release date has been announced yet. Definitely a project to keep an eye on.
